What the site is
The site is a free educational reference: a periodic table, data on the elements and their isotopes, calculators, quizzes and printable tables, in six languages. It is intended for study, teaching and general information.
What the site is not
The site is not a substitute for professional advice. In particular:
- Data on the site describes the elements as reference values under stated conditions. It is not guidance for handling, storing or reacting any substance. Before working with a chemical, consult its safety data sheet and a qualified person.
- Calculators perform the arithmetic they describe. Check any result you rely on for an examination, a laboratory procedure or a purchase.
- Nothing on the site is medical, legal or engineering advice.
Accuracy
We take accuracy seriously: every value is linked to its source, values are checked against physical constraints when the site is built, and readers’ corrections are acted on. Even so, the site is provided “as is”. Sources contain errors, values are revised as science advances, and translations may not yet have been reviewed by a native speaker. If you find a mistake, please tell us.
Using and reusing the content
- Data. The measured values on the site come from public scientific sources, each cited on the page where it is used, and remain under their original licences. Cite the original source, not this site, in scientific work.
- Printable tables. The tables on the printables page are free to print, copy and share for any purpose, including in classrooms and textbooks.
- Text, articles and design. Articles, explanatory text, the site’s design and its code belong to periotable.com. You may quote short excerpts with a link to the page. Reproducing whole articles, or building a derived site from this one, requires our written permission — ask; we usually say yes for educational use.
- Automated access. Search engines are welcome. Bulk scraping that puts load on the site, or that republishes its content elsewhere, is not permitted.
Advertising
The site is funded by advertising served by Google. Advertisements are chosen by Google, not by us, and their appearance is not an endorsement. Advertising has no influence on the data or the text. See the privacy policy for the cookies involved.
External links
The site links to its data sources and to other resources. We are not responsible for the content of external sites.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, periotable.com is not liable for any loss or damage arising from the use of the site or from reliance on its content, including errors in data, unavailability of the site, or the acts of third parties. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the current version. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new terms.
